Crenshaw House

The Crenshaw House (also known as the Crenshaw Mansion, Hickory Hill or, most commonly, The Old Slave House) is a historic former residence of John Crenshaw, his wife, and their five children. The house is renowned for its part in the Reverse Underground Railroad - a "station" that transported escaped slaves and kidnapped free blacks back to servitude in slave states. It is currently closed to the public as the state determines what do do with this historic site after purchasing it in 2001.

The house has a reputation for being haunted, largely since the building was purchased by the Sisk family. They started selling tours of the property.

Audible phenomena reported includes noises eminating from the attic that included rattling chains, crying and moaning. Others reported the feeling of nausea and intense sadness, cold spots and being touched by something unseen.
